Before coating the screen printing frame with emulsion, the mesh should be treated with DEGREASER (or mixed DEGREASER25 degreaser concentrate).
The pink-colored degreaser is applied evenly to both sides of the screen printing frame. Ideally, a spray bottle is used for this. The degreaser can also be massaged into the mesh with a sponge. After letting it sit for 2 to 3 minutes, the screen is rinsed with a gentle stream of water. Be sure not to forget the edges and corners when rinsing.
The goal of degreasing is to remove greasy and oily residues, cleaner remnants, and dust particles from the mesh. These residues could otherwise cause issues or "fish eyes" in the emulsion layer during coating.
After rinsing, the screen should be completely dry. While drying, ensure the surrounding area is not too dusty. It may be useful to vacuum the floor of the storage area beforehand. Optionally, a space heater can be used to speed up the drying process.
Once the screen is completely dry, it is ready for coating with emulsion, either immediately or at a later time.
From some of our professional customers, we know that they don't always degrease during their daily work, especially when working with new screens. However, for beginners, we recommend always degreasing first. With more practical experience, it will become easier to determine when degreasing is really necessary.
To prepare the ready-to-use degreaser, one part of DEGREASER25 concentrate is mixed with 25 parts of clean water. Example: One liter of water is mixed with 40 ml of DEGREASER25 concentrate.
When stored properly, the DEGREASER25 concentrate is good for at least two years. The product should be kept at room temperature and always protected from frost and heat.
